South Carolina Buy Black Locally helps you find and support Black owned businesses in your area-- keeping that money in our communities!
In 2015, our lives changed along with the families of the Charleston Emanuel AME 9 Murdered. That's when my family and I started questioning, what's sacred anymore within the Black or African American Community? The church seemed to be untouchable & sacred until then. Therefore, if the cornerstone of our communities is so disrespected than what are we missing? This is where The Afrikan Konciousness Koalition was formed.
We've hosted lectures bringing in some highly respected people to the Lowcountry to enlighten us & things to help us learn our rich history, like Derrick Grace and Young Pharoah plus more. We also host The Annual Afrikan Festival to reach the youth in a fun way to teach on our diaspora, bring local businesses together to reach the community letting them know they exist to keep money flowing in our own areas, and encourage more community engagement and solidarity. Proceeds from the festival benefits a local nonprofit of Berkeley County.
